LOCATION: Oyster Pond Watershed, Falmouth, MA
CONSULTING FEE: $20/hr for 320 hours = $6,400 per year. This is a one-year contractual arrangement that could be extended. Offered for Calendar Year 2003.
OVERVIEW: The person contracted would perform two tasks for the Oyster Pond Environmental Trust (OPET). He/she would act as ombudsman for Oyster pond, regularly investigating activities in the Oyster Pond watershed that might affect the health of the pond. The OPET also needs assistance writing, editing and distributing the newsletter twice a year.
Oyster Pond Environmental Trust was founded in 1995 by a group of concerned citizens to oversee and manage the health of Oyster Pond. OPET's principal activities include participating in pond water quality monitoring; publishing newsletters and a book summarizing the research findings; developing and implementing a pond management program; conserving open space in the watershed; and supporting educational monitoring and research projects on the pond.

Note: OPET estimates the newsletter will take about 80 hours per newsletter or 160 hours per year. OPET anticipates that the ombudsman will devote 3 hours per week on average to the position or approximately another 160 hours per year. The Trust prefers that the person contracted be able to accomplish both tasks. However, if it is not possible to find a person with both skill sets, OPET will consider splitting the consulting tasks between two individuals. The contractee will operate out of his/her home or personal office.
